Cosmetic surgery operative bleeding is kept to a minimum. However, in the hours that follow the surgery, some bleeding may occur, If the bleeding is minimum, a bruise will result.. If the bleeding is more substantial, it may form a collection called a haematoma. This might need to be evacuated in theatre.
To minimize the risk of bleeding, AVOID all of the following for at least 2 weeks prior to the surgery:
- Aspirin or any aspirin containing medication (many cold & flu medication have aspirin)
- NSAIDS e.g. Ibuprofen, voltaren, indocid
- Arnica, , vitamins, herbal supplements, minerals, omega oils, ginseng etc
