Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and muscle from the upper and/or lower eyelids and at the same time tightening the eyelids.. Underlying fatty tissue that produces bagginess can be selectively removed or repositioned.
As we age, the delicate skin and supporting structures around the eyelids stretches. In the upper eyelid it creates a hooded appearance and in the lower eyelid it creates “bags” . This can cause you to look tired and stressed.
A blepharoplasty can address this and can revive your appearance. It will not address sagging of the brow, and this might be an additional area to address.
The procedure thakes about 1 hour for upper eyelids only and 2 hours for upper and lower eyelids and is performed as a daycase.. The resultant scar is a fine line, which falls into the natural crease.
Blepharoplasty surgery is customised for every patient, depending on his or her particular needs. During your consultation, Dr du Toit will examine your specific needs and suggest a procedure specific for you. She will also discuss in understandable terms the possible risks, alternatives and expected post operative course.
